By prioritizing "school health," the PA AAP commits to the promotion of school-aged children's health, safety and wellness in the various spaces, identities and activities in which they inhabit and engage in the school setting. Made up of a collection of stakeholders, including pediatricians, parents, school nurses and administrators, mental health professionals and more, PA AAP's School Health Committee is dedicated to elevating health and safety concerns within the school setting and utilizing an evidence-based approach to secure a healthy, productive educational environmental for students.
Goals
The purpose of the Committee is to provide direction and support for issues relating to optimizing the health, safety, and well-being of children in the school setting in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and consistent with national AAP position/agendas.

- Establish, and present to the Board for approval, an agenda for School Health, updated on a yearly basis.
- Facilitate relevant educational opportunities (e.g., webinar series and updates, book/movie discussions, CATCH grant applications, national conferences, leadership training, etc.).
- Work with Chapter leadership, members, and Committees along with communities and community organizations (both within and outside the healthcare arena) to implement select national policy on school health recommendations.
- Engage in active education, advocacy, and outreach to the many stakeholders that impact the health of children across the Commonwealth.
- Organize at least one statewide (or regional) focused advocacy activity per year.
