About the Lead Author
Dr. Nancy Xia was born and raised in NYC. She attended Boston University, where she majored in Neuroscience and Psychology, minored in Chinese and received the Scarlet Key Award for community service. After graduation she worked as a medical interpreter and Clinical Research Associate at NYU Langone’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. In medical school, she served as the Professional Development Director for the Student Osteopathic Medical Association, volunteered at the free clinic, organized fundraisers for charitable causes and promoted healthy lifestyles by teaching cooking classes to the community. She continues to advocate for the underserved population as a Child Neurology resident physician at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in North Philadelphia where she began a Quality Improvement project on smoking cessation intervention in family with children with asthma.
