The purpose of this award is to encourage, by its announcement and implied honor, behavior that exemplifies the ideal pediatrician and participation in the type of activities that are the foundation of the AAP. Since the AAP already gives a specific research awards, and each of the individual residencies present awards for resident teaching, these activities are to be de-emphasized in consideration for this award. While current activities are to be emphasized, the award can be given for an accumulation of work over the course of a career. To be considered for Pediatrician of the Year, the nominee must be a Fellow in good standing of the PA AAP and must be involved at the local, state, or national level in one or more of the following: |

The Nominating Committee will solicit names of candidates. Names will be submitted to the Nominating Committee Chair so that candidates' qualifications can be researched and discussed. There shall not be nominations from the floor of the Executive Board, as these nominations should also have been previously directed to the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee is to present nominations for the award to the Executive Board. Majority vote of the Executive Board shall determine the recipient. The Award shall be presented by the Chapter President at an appropriate meeting or event and shall consist of a plaque, appropriately inscribed to testify to the significance of the award. The Executive Board shall provide the funds for the recipient and spouse to attend. If there are no appropriate nominees in a given year, the award need not be given.
